What: The Austin Security Professionals Happy Hour is a monthly event coordinated by the Austin OWASP Chapter and sponsored by various companies. We try to meet every second Thursday of the month from January to September (but occasionally we make schedule adjustments when needed). The event is an informal social gathering of local information security professionals. If you’re involved with InfoSec or even if you have an interest, come on out for drinks, good food and conversation.

Presentation: Automating Protocol Security Testing: Building a Scalable Testing Framework
Manual security testing creates bottlenecks in modern software delivery. This talk presents a practical case study of building an automated security testing framework that significantly reduced validation time while dramatically expanding test coverage.
Drawing from experience validating TLS/SSL security across thousands of protocol scenarios, this session covers the complete automation journey: architectural decisions, implementation challenges, unexpected failures, and lessons learned from production deployment
Speaker: Gurdeep Gill
Gurdeep Gill is a Software Engineering Technical Leader at Cisco Systems, specializing in cybersecurity, automation, and network infrastructure. She leads high-performing engineering teams and drives quality initiatives, with expertise in SSL/TLS protocols, PKI, QUIC, Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and advanced automation frameworks using Python and cloud technologies. Gurdeep holds a Master’s in Computer Engineering and is actively involved with Women in Cyber Security (WiCyS) and Women of Impact (WIT). She is passionate about mentorship and inclusive leadership. Gurdeep is dedicated to translating complex cybersecurity challenges into practical, scalable solutions that empower businesses and protect global digital ecosystems.
