OWASP Manchester

Welcome to the Manchester chapter homepage. This is a new chapter, having grown out of the successful Leeds_UK chapter.

Participation

OWASP Foundation (Overview Slides) is a professional association of global members and is and open to anyone interested in learning more about software security. Local chapters are run independently and guided by the Chapter_Leader_Handbook. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional association your support and sponsorship of any meeting venue and/or refreshments is tax-deductible. Financial contributions should only be made online using the authorized online chapter donation button. To be a SPEAKER at ANY OWASP Chapter in the world simply review the speaker agreement and then contact the local chapter leader with details of what OWASP PROJECT, independent research or related software security topic you would like to present on.

Date: Wednesday February 1st in Manchester

Location: PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, 101 Barbirolli Square, Lower Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3PW (Google Maps link)

Parking is available at the G-Mex is just across the tram lines from the office and the Great Northern (behind the AMC cinema) is nearby too. Either should have more than sufficient space on a weekday evening, and on-steet (metered) parking is also an option.

Talk: An Introduction to the OWASP Top Ten

The OWASP Top Ten provides a powerful awareness document for web application security. The OWASP Top Ten represents a broad consensus about what the most critical web application security flaws are.

In this presentation Simon will give an introduction to each of the top 10 security flaws and explain why they are so dangerous.

Talk: Evaluating iOS Applications

In this presentation, Dominic will discuss the lessons learned from evaluating iOS applications. It will cover a brief introduction to the security features of the platform and how they affect mobile applications then delve in to details on some of the most common iOS vulnerabilities the author has experienced during testing.

Speaker: Dominic Chell - eShield Information Security

Dominic is the owner and technical director of eShield Information Security; a security consultancy based in Cheshire. Prior to this, Dominic worked at NGS Software for 6 years where he was a CHECK Team Leader & CREST consultant. Dominic has published numerous exploits and advisories over the years as well as given web application security training at BlackHat Vegas.
