New OWASP Project

Projects Under Review

  • Development of ALPHA stage OWASP Books
    • I am currently working with Project Leaders to consolidated the finished sections of their in progress books.
    • The aim is to present these books to potential reviewers during the project summit.
    • Additionally, the hope is that we can get more contributors by using the books to showcase where work is needed.
    • We are done with three books, and we have two more to go.
    • I have already ordered the first batch, and I will be ordering the second later this week.
    • I have already gotten the first delivery of books.
    • I am waiting on the second now.
  • Project Leader Workshop Content
    • I continue to work on creating the Project Leader workshop content.
    • I lost the data on my laptop some weeks ago, and with it went the workshop notes and presentation slides.
    • I am done with the slides, and now I am just putting together my notes for the talk.
  • 2013 Project Summit
    • I continue to work on organizing the 2013 OWASP Projects Summit.
    • We are now one week away.
    • I am primarily focusing on the project leader workshop content and getting logistics sorted for the summit and project talks.
    • Work is now underway to solidify the outcomes for each summit session.
    • I am also working towards promoting the sessions and talks on our social media channels.
    • I hope to get all participants to sign up for each session before the day of the event.
  • OWASP Marketing
    • I continue to work on finalizing our contract with the marketing and design agency we hired to create our OWASP identity package.
    • We have now gotten the final mock-ups for the Connector e-mail template which is the last piece left.
    • The staff have made their comments, sent them to the designer, and the designer has sent the final version to me today.
    • I am looking through the deliverable today to make sure it meets our design needs.
    • I hope to finalize this by next week.
  • Grants and Fundraising Intern Summary
    • Kait continues to work hard on her daily tasks every week.
    • You can read her weekly reports by following the link above.
    • She is currently helping to put together the Testing Guide which is one of the books we will be reviewing at the summit.
    • I have already started ordering hard copies of these books to make it easier for the reviewers.
  • Project Operations Policies
    • I worked to develop a general project spending policy, and some operational project sponsorship guidelines for project leaders.
    • There has been some confusion over what Project Leaders are able to spend funds on, and these guidelines are meant to clarify these points.
    • The guidelines outlined in this policy are meant to provide clear expectations for Leaders.
    • I hope these guidelines clarify some of the confusion.
  • Daily Project based queries and requests
    • This has not changed much since I began the post: questions are very similar in nature.
    • Global AppSec questions.
    • Funding queries.
    • Travel availability.
    • Project based administrative help.
    • Project status information.
    • Several project donation questions.
    • Marketing questions.
    • Grant funding questions.
    • OWASP social media updates.
    • What's happening with projects, questions.

Remote Participation Update for 2013 Project Summit

Unfortunately, we were not able to raise enough funds to facilitate remote participation for the 2013 Project Summit. It is certainly an aspect of our summits that we find incredibly important, and we will work hard to make sure remote participation is an option our contributors have in 2014.
